2012/2013 Covenant University Admission Details Now Out

 Covenant University is a private, Christian Mission University committed to raising a new generation of leaders. Our mission is to train
graduates who will be mentally resourceful,
intellectually equipped, entrepreneurially selfdependent,
futuristically visionary and responsibility
sensitive.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified
candidates for admission into Degree programmes
on a full-time basis in the Colleges and Departments
of the University listed below.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
The minimum entry requirements for admission into
Covenant University are credit level passes in 5
subjects at the SSCE/GCE O'Level/NECO/NABTEB
or its equivalent obtained at not more than two
sittings. The subjects passed must include English
Language, Mathematics and one relevant Science
subject, selected from the following group: Biology,
Health/General Science, Food and Nutrition
Science, Agricultural Science, Physics and
Chemistry. Candidates are also to note that there are
other requirements that may be specific to a College
and/or a Programme.
JAMB PREREQUISITE
Candidates applying to Covenant University are
required to sit for the 2012/2013 UTME of the Joint
Admissions & Matriculation Board (JAMB) and attain
the prescribed cut-off mark. This is a statutory
requirement for entry into Nigerian Universities.
Candidates are required to apply for programmes of
their choice by filling the 2012/2013 JAMB
registration form. Applicants are strongly advised to
ensure that their UTME subject combination
qualifies them for their chosen programme. Any
candidate desiring to apply for a change of course
after filling the form must make his/her application to
JAMB before the release of the 2012 UTME results.
In addition to the above, Covenant University
conducts a Post-UTME screening exercise for all
candidates seeking admission to the University and
applicants may not be admitted without fulfilling the
demands of the screening exercise.
COLLEGE OF DEVELOPMENT STUDIES
College Requirements: Candidates seeking
admission to any of the College's programmes must
have obtained at least five (5) credit level passes in
the SSCE/GCE O 'Level /NECO/NABTEB or its
equivalent, obtained at not more than two sittings
prior to September, 2012. The five (5) credit level
passes must include Mathematics, English
Language and one Science subject selected from
the following group: Biology, Health Science, Food
and Nutrition Science, Agricultural Science,
Chemistry and Physics

credit level passes in Economics and in one other

Science subject, selected from the above specified
group.

The minimum entry requirement is the same as in the
Department of Accounting

Pass in Literature in English
Students may specialise in either English
Language or Literature in English before their
year of graduation.
ii. B.A. French (4yrs)
Candidates must have a credit level pass in
French in SSCE/GCE O' Level /NECO/NABTEB
or C.E.F.P/DELF (Certificates awarded by
Alliance Française.). The Pre-degree
Certification in French from any recognised
University is accepted.
In special circumstances, however, candidates
without the qualifications above may be
considered, provided they are willing to undergo a
selection exercise and a special foundation
programme.
B. Department of Psychology
B.Sc. Psychology (4yrs)
Candidates in addition to the minimum entry
requirements must possess at least a credit level
pass in Biology. Students may specialise in
Psychology or Counselling before their year of
graduation.
C. Department of Mass Communication
B.Sc. Mass Communication (4years)
Candidates must in addition possess a credit
level pass in Literature in English.
D. Department of Sociology
B.Sc. Sociology (4yrs)
Candidates must in addition possess a credit
level pass either in History, Government or
Economics
COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Admission Requirements to the College:
The requirements are the same as specified in
the general requirements above. The five (5)
s u b j e c t s i n t h e S S C E / G C E O '
Level/NECO/NABTEB or its equivalent obtained
at not more than two sittings prior to September
2012 must include English Language,
Mathematics and Physics. However, for
candidates seeking admission into the Estate
Management Degree Programme, a credit level
pass in Physics is not compulsory just as a credit
level pass in Chemistry is not compulsory for
Architecture.

in arts or sciences. In any case, at least a pass in
Chemistry is required.

of which must be a Science subject selected

MODE OF ADMISSION
Intending students of Covenant University are to
obtain the JAMB form, choose Covenant
University and sit for the

as prescribed in the relevant Advertisement for
the 2012/2013 admission exercise.
In addition, applicants must complete the
Covenant University Application Form, available
online at www.covenantuniversity.edu.ng.
Applicants are to note that the closing date for
completion and submission of application forms
would be one week after the release of the 2012
UTME results.

APPLICATION FORM
Call at any of the following approved banks to
purchase the Covenant University pin: Zenith
Bank, GT Bank, Oceanic Bank/Ecobank Bank,
Enterprise Bank Ltd, Intercontinental/Access
Bank, UBA, First Bank, Union Bank, Diamond
Bank, FCMB and Covenant Microfinance Bank.
You will be given a Covenant University pin
receipt at the Bank after paying the sum of
N5,550 (Five Thousand Five Hundred and Fifty
Naira) for the pin and related charges. The
receipt and confirmation order numbers stated
on the receipt gives you access to completing
the form online.
IMPORTANT ADMISSION INFORMATION
All qualifications claimed by applicants in order
to fulfil the prescribed entry requirements must
have been obtained on or before students'
registration time
All applicants to Covenant University should
note that preference shall be given to candidates
with outstanding performance in the 2012/2013
UTME. There will be a Computer-based Post-
UTME screening which will take place at
Covenant University, Canaan Land, Km. 10
Idiroko Road, Ota. The screening schedule
would be published in National Dailies and as
well be accessible on the University website:
(www.covenantuniversity.edu.ng) after the
release of the 2012 UTME results by the Joint
Admissions and Matriculation Board.
